WHY HAVE WE CHOSEN TO HOMESTEAD?

The entire driving-force behind us building our homestead is our children. They are the reason for everything we create here at B & B Homestead. 

       

And as long as I’m being honest, I guess we also do it because it’s where I’m happiest–with the chickens and goats and dirt under my fingernails! Here on the homestead, alongside my family, I can re-charge after facing the world. Here on our little acre we shut out the chaos.

I whole-heartedly believe that children should be raised outside–getting dirty, scraping knees, climbing trees, digging for worms, building fairy villages (which I did as a kid). Children blossom when they get to explore–because it’s there where they begin to develop their character and strength.

HOMESTEADING ON AN ACRE

Ever since Covid hit, there seems to be a movement to return to our roots–to natural living. And I’m here for it! I think the more people who purposely return to natural living the better! Which is one reason why I’m so passionate about sharing our journey with you.

It can be daunting trying to figure out how to homestead in today’s modern world. How do you even begin to find acreage for all the chickens, goats, cows, pigs, fruit trees, garden, etc.? I’m here to tell you there is a way to do it! Homesteading on an acre can be done! You just have to get creative.

 

MODERN HOMESTEADING FOR BEGINNERS

As you take that first step into figuring out how to tackle a homestead, the best place to start is to build your community. Find others like you (like ME!) who will support and uplift you as you begin this new venture.

I definitely had a great foundation of my own skills and knowledge to begin our homestead with, but I’ve also relied on experts along the way to guide me as I’ve finished projects and planned for the future.
